Essentially for technical reasons, but this is now changing fast.
The new Web Audio API defined in the latest HTML 5 standards allows audio to be sourced, processed and filtered dynamically in real time. This opens a whole new world of creative possibilities in sound, at precisely the time that the potential audience for sonic experiences is booming. Next time you are on a crowded commuter train, have a look around. Notice how many people have their headphones plugged in to their mobile devices. This is the future, a new sound ecosystem, which is already starting to be exploited by many of the world’s top brand names.
Sonoport is at the forefront of this exciting, new web audio frontier. Our Sound Animator allows users to select audio from the world’s largest internet sound archive, stitch it to an image, dynamically shape it with our sound modules and output it as HTML code for use throughout the web. What is more, our suite of web analytics tools enables the analysis of where and how that audio is being used.
Job description
The Frontend Developer will be responsible for design and execution of web and mobile products. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with experience in creative designs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and test across multiple browsers, platforms, and devices, including smartphones and tablets.
- Work with client services, sales, and the design team, and manage time across multiple projects and tasks in a deadline-driven, team environment.
- Participate in discussions with clients and team members about technical best practices and help teams identify optimal technical solutions
- Understand Agile methodology and instill best practices into the process.
Skills And Experience
- Expert knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, cross browser compatibility
- Solid foothold on the quirks of JavaScript as a language
- Experience with interactive user interfaces and animation
- Experience working with Node.js, Grunt or Gulp build tools
- Experience with Sass or other compiled CSS languages
- Experience with implementing responsive designs
- Understanding of lean and agile practices
- Experience in Software Engineering practices: TDD/BDD unit/functional automated testing, software design and architectures like Jasmine, Mocha, Selenium
The successful candidate will also benefit from:
- Have a keen eye for creative designs
- Possess an advanced knowledge of web and mobile UX/UI
- Have previous experience working in Gaming, Animation, Creative agencies
- Experience developing front-end mobile web applications
- Experience developing audio applications on any platform
